If you think only about eating, soon you won’t have anything left to eat.

If you know how to put quiet in your heart, you will find cool happiness everywhere. (In Thailand, where the weather can be very hot, coolness has very positive connotations.)

ถ้าท่านทำดีเพื่อเด่น ก็ถูกเขารุมกันเขม่น แม้จากญาติมิตรของตนเอง
If you do good just for show, no one will like you, not even your relatives and friends.

You can end this game of life once and for all as long as you see your life as a thing rather than a self.

ถ้าท่านหูเบาใจเบา ชีวิตของเราก๊จะเป็นนุ่นปลิวไปตามลม จนตามจับกันไม่หวาดไหว
The life of a gullible person is like cotton fluff in the wind; he or she cannot take hold of it.

Keeping silent is so much better than gossiping about one’s neighbors, so don’t be afraid of being derided as unintelligent or shy.

กินอยู่แต่พอดี แม้ผีจะหัวเราะ ก็ยังดีกว่ากินดีอยู่ดี จนผีกลัว
To eat with moderation, even if a ghost laughs at you, is better than to eat so much as to frighten the ghost.

เศรษฐีมีเงน จะชั่วช้าสามานย์สักปานใดก็ยังมีคนนับถือ แต่ผีไม่นับถือ แม้ผีเรือนเศรษฐีนั้นก๊ตาม
No matter how much an evil person he shows himself to be in all his doings, a rich man will always find people who respect him. But spirits don’t respect him. Not even the guardian spirit of his house.

พูดว่า “ทำบุญเข้าไว้จะได้ไปสวรรค์” ทั้งที่ยังไม่รู้จักเลยว่าบุญและสวรรค์นั้นคืออะไร และจะเป็นไปได้อย่างไร
People keep saying “good deeds lead to heaven” without having the least idea what good deeds are nor heaven nor how this is possible.

ยิ่งทำเด่น ยิ่งถูกคนเขาเขม่น และคอยสมน้ำหน้า เมื่อความเด่นพังทลายลง
The more distinction you achieve, the more people take umbrage at you and wait for the moment of your collapse when they can say “it serves him right.”

พี่เกรงกลัวกฎหมาย น้องไม่กลัว ก็เป็นอันว่าคลานตามกันมาเพื่อรับผลต่างกัน
Big brother fears the law, little brother fears it not. Same parents, different results.

ผู้ที่สามารถทำสิ่งสำคัญ ให้กลายเป็นสิ่งไม่สำคัญ นั่นแหละคือคนสำคัญที่แท้จริง ซึ่งไม่มีใครรู้จักหรือสนใจ
Someone who knows how to make important things unimportant, here is a really important person. Yet no one knows them nor cares about them.
